Dr. Carol Mills Kamara (also called Dr. Carol) is adviser to the Board of Directors of The Marcia Mills Foundation. Marcia Mills was Dr. Carol's second oldest sister. When Dr. Carol was a young child, Marcia babysat and cared for her. Dr. Carol benefited from Marcia's genuine love and care throughout her childhood and teenage years. She is thrilled to serve on the board of directors of The Marcia Mills Foundation as the Foundation helps children, youths and young women with special needs.
Dr. Carol grew up in Jamaica with a single mother of nine children. She is a Christian and a down-to-earth psychotherapist and trauma specialist who fosters trusting relationships with her clients. Using proven modalities, she helps individuals - youths, adults, and couples - with depression, anxiety, trauma, spirituality, and relationship issues. She is an ordained pastor who provides spiritual guidance, promote mind-body-spirit wellness, and guides individuals toward purposeful, joyful lives. She loves God and people, for her everything else is secondary.
She is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker working as a clinical supervisor and psychotherapist with children and adolescents in the New York state child welfare system and with adults and couples in private practice – Healing Joy Psychotherapy.
She is married to a wonderful man, Sammy Kamara, CP. They co-founded Reaching Out to Children with Kindness (R.O.C.K.) - a humanitarian, faith-based 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that improves the lives of underprivileged and underserved children and teens. The mission is, Opening Doors to Education for children affected by poverty and violence. She also authored Sammy’s memoir – Breaking Point: A Journey to Self-Awareness and Finding Purpose in Pain.
